Successful integration of your storage solutions into the energy system of the future.

As the share of dynamic energy generation from photovoltaic and wind power increases, so too do the demands on grid stability, system flexibility and security of supply. DMT supports companies, energy suppliers and infrastructure operators in the planning and integration of energy storage solutions.

Developing flexible energy systems

As the share of renewable energy increases, the dynamics of the electricity supply are undergoing a fundamental shift. Electricity generation is increasingly driven by prevailing weather conditions, whilst peaks in consumption continue to be determined by industry, transport, buildings and critical infrastructure. Battery storage systems help to balance out this temporal mismatch between electricity generation and consumption.

They provide electrical power within milliseconds, stabilise grids in the event of frequency deviations and reduce the load on transmission and distribution networks. As a result, they are becoming an essential component of a decentralised energy system based on renewable energy sources.

DMT supports this development with technical and regulatory expertise in energy engineering, infrastructure planning, risk assessment, digitalisation and permit management. This provides a robust basis for decision-making regarding investments in modern storage infrastructure, taking technical performance, cost-effectiveness and flexibility into account in equal measure.

Comprehensive planning of storage infrastructure

Why choose DMT for your energy storage project?

The energy supply is increasingly shifting away from a few centralised generation sites towards networked structures comprising a multitude of decentralised generation plants. The key challenge is to make energy available in line with demand and using the right storage technology. When developing storage infrastructure, key considerations include storage duration, capacity, site conditions and, above all, the specific application. Nevertheless, the technical performance of a storage system is only one aspect of successful project development. Grid integration, safety requirements, approval processes, economic viability and operational concepts are equally relevant.

As part of the TÜV NORD GROUP, DMT offers comprehensive support in the technical and economic assessment of complex energy projects and supports storage projects with interdisciplinary expertise in:

  • Energy technology
  • Infrastructure planning
  • Process engineering
  • Safety and risk assessment
  • Digitalisation
  • Permit management

Strengthening energy independence and safeguarding value creation

Investments in renewable energy, the hydrogen economy, energy storage and innovative infrastructure do not merely deliver environmental benefits. They also boost regional value creation, foster technological innovation and enhance the competitiveness of industrial locations.

Driving decarbonisation through renewable energy, flexible energy systems and innovative technologies.

Decentralised energy systems are based on a large number of local generation facilities. As generation and consumption often do not coincide in time, energy storage systems play a key balancing role. They store surplus energy and make it available again when needed. In doing so, they increase the flexibility of the energy system, improve security of supply and support the integration of renewable energy sources.

Wind and solar energy are not always available in the quantities required. Energy storage systems make it possible to shift the use of renewable energy over time. Surplus energy from periods of strong wind or abundant sunshine can be stored and used later. This increases the share of renewable energy in the energy system and improves the utilisation of existing generation capacity.

Even high-capacity battery storage systems can only store energy cost-effectively for limited periods of time. Hydrogen, on the other hand, offers the possibility of storing renewable energy for weeks or months and making it available again when needed. Hydrogen therefore fills an important gap in the future energy supply and usefully complements battery storage.

The expansion of electric mobility is placing greater demands on electricity grids and charging infrastructure. Energy storage systems can store electricity locally and make it available for charging. This helps to reduce peak loads, ease the strain on grid connections and operate charging infrastructure more efficiently.

Furthermore, energy storage systems enable the increased use of locally generated renewable energy for electric vehicles.
