Foundation Engineering Consultancy

Start-up consultancy for infrastructure projects

Request Startup Consulting Now

A safe and cost-effective foundation is the basis for long-lasting infrastructure and civil engineering structures.

DMT supports clients with comprehensive geotechnical consultancy, foundation design and foundation analysis. Based on ground investigations, we assess the bearing capacity of the subsoil and develop bespoke foundation solutions for a range of structural requirements.

Our services include the design, structural analysis and assessment of foundation elements, as well as the development of specialised stabilisation measures for challenging ground and groundwater conditions.

Foundations Components

Foundations safely transfer the loads from a structure to the ground. The choice of a suitable foundation element depends on the structural loads, the ground conditions and the project requirements.

Commonly used foundation elements include:

  • Strip foundations for linear load transfer, for example for walls or elongated structures
  • Individual foundations for supporting concentrated loads from individual columns or structural members
  • Slab foundations for the even distribution of loads over larger areas and to limit settlement

Foundation reinforcement for challenging soil conditions

In the case of deep excavation pits, unfavourable ground conditions or a high water table, additional measures may be required to stabilise the base of the excavation pit. Base stabilisation measures enhance structural stability, limit settlement and minimise risks during construction.

  • Submerged concrete bases

Underwater concrete bases are used in particular for excavation pits with significant groundwater influence. They counteract buoyancy, stabilise the base of the excavation pit and create safe conditions for the continuation of construction work.

  • Injection bases

Grouted bases are created by the targeted injection of suitable grouting materials. This improves the bearing capacity of the ground whilst simultaneously reducing its permeability. This method is particularly suitable for sealing against water ingress and for improving difficult ground conditions.

Comprehensive foundation planning for greater planning certainty: Talk to our team of experts!

An effective foundation takes into account not only the bearing capacity of the ground but also long-term usage requirements, construction processes and economic considerations. Drawing on its interdisciplinary expertise in geotechnical engineering, infrastructure and engineering, DMT develops practical solutions that support safety, quality and efficiency throughout the entire project lifecycle.

What You Should Know

Frequently Asked Questions about Start-up Advice

Foundation consultancy involves investigating the ground conditions, assessing the bearing capacity, and planning and designing suitable foundation systems. The aim is to ensure that loads are transferred safely and cost-effectively into the ground.

Strip foundations are primarily used in structures with linear loads, for example beneath load-bearing walls or elongated structures.

Slab foundations distribute loads evenly across the ground, reduce localised stresses and can minimise settlement. They are particularly suitable for structures with large floor areas.

Underwater concrete bases are used when excavation pits need to be dug below the water table and buoyancy forces could jeopardise structural stability.

An injection base is a geotechnical stabilisation measure in which the subsoil is consolidated and sealed by means of grouting. This improves load-bearing capacity, impermeability and excavation safety.
