The CoreScan scans drill cores in their core boxes in a planar orientation. In addition, individual drill cores can be scanned in 360° mode. The data is then imported into the CoreBase software.
The integrated database enables the clear documentation, archiving and presentation of relevant data, which can be supplemented, where appropriate, with stratigraphic, lithological, petrographic and structural findings. This saves time and resources in complex projects relating to final disposal or exploration – as well as in projects concerning geothermal energy, groundwater protection or hazard prevention.

The additional LED lighting is used when the drill core is scanned under wet conditions. Scanning the wet drill core improves the colour saturation of the images and reveals more petrographic and structural details.
Another application of the additional LED lighting is when larger crystal surfaces appear along the core. The use of the additional LED lighting minimises potential reflections that may occur along the wet core or on crystal surfaces.
