Essen, 23 September 2024 – DMT GmbH & Co. KG, an independent, globally active engineering and consultancy firm, is presenting the latest model in the GYROMAT series at INTERGEO 2024: the GYROMAT 6000, the most accurate gyroscopic measurement system for high-precision surveying, e.g. in tunnel or shipbuilding. The GYROMAT 6000 combines the proven absolute precision of the GYROMAT series with new functionality that now enables the surveying gyroscope to navigate even the most inaccessible and confined spaces, such as microtunnels or ship hatches.
The GYROMAT 6000 is the world’s most accurate surveying gyroscope; it reliably points north and compensates for potential sources of error such as refraction, error propagation or even plumb errors when measuring direction from a shaft. It delivers measurement results with an accuracy of 0.8/1,000th of a gon. Dr Jörg Niese, Product Manager at DMT and responsible for the GYROMAT series, explains just how precise the GYROMAT 6000 is using the following example: “If you cut a cake into 400 pieces and then cut one of these small cake pieces into 1,000 even smaller pieces, you’ll get an idea of the accuracy. And the great thing is, you can do this anywhere – in a tunnel, inside a ship’s hull or in an industrial hall.” This is because the GYROMAT 6000 can also be used in places where no GPS signals are available. Furthermore, the gyroscope module can now be detached from the total station, which makes transport or work in the tightest or hardest-to-reach spaces – such as micro-tunnels or through ship hatches – much easier. With fully automated measurement sequences, pre-orientation-free measurement methods and enhanced monitoring functions, the GYROMAT 6000 stands for precision and flexibility, which are utilised in tunnelling, shipbuilding, aerospace and industrial surveying.

With the launch of the GYROMAT 6000, DMT continues the success story of the GYROMAT series as the gold standard amongst surveying gyroscopes. GYROMAT gyroscopes are renowned for their precise orientation and control at any time and in any location, and provide high-precision measurements for cost-effective planning reliability. Thanks to their unrivalled accuracy, DMT’s GYROMAT series is the number one choice for control measurements in many of the world’s largest tunnel construction projects, such as the Eurotunnel, the Brenner Base Tunnel and the Gotthard Base Tunnel.
