Essen, 13 February 2024: DMT GmbH & Co. KG, a company within the TÜV NORD GROUP based in Essen, will be taking part in the GeoTHERM expo & congress – Europe’s largest geothermal trade fair and conference – on 29 February and 1 March 2024.
DMT’s geothermal experts are looking forward to exchanging views on deep geothermal energy with trade visitors, media representatives and decision-makers on deep geothermal energy and to discuss solutions for all development phases – from feasibility studies through site exploration and drilling to the plant engineering of geothermal heating stations.
Alongside DMT, over 150 other national and international exhibitors are expected to attend. Complemented by an extensive programme of talks and workshops, the exhibition covers the entire spectrum of geothermal energy and is regarded as one of the industry’s most important meeting places.
The potential of deep geothermal energy is enormous – according to experts, renewable energy from deep underground can meet at least 25 per cent of Germany’s thermal energy demand. Municipal utilities, companies and energy suppliers have long recognised this and, as part of the ‘heat transition’, are striving to move away from fossil fuels and decarbonise heating networks. By utilising geothermal energy, they can become guarantors of security of supply and pioneers in climate protection.
The political, social and economic conditions necessary for the successful expansion of deep geothermal energy are well on track. Nevertheless, the implementation of projects remains a highly complex process. DMT has positioned itself as a general contractor to provide clients with successful and targeted support throughout all phases of a geothermal project: project development and planning, surface and subsurface site surveys, as well as plant construction and commissioning.
In addition, DMT is continually expanding its technical expertise, for example through recently established partnerships such as that with the ‘Helmholtz Centre Potsdam – German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ)’.
“To ensure a successful heat transition, our clients can rely on our expertise as a general contractor for matters relating to planning permission, funding opportunities and feasibility studies, site investigation, plant engineering, environmental impact assessments, and engagement with the public and public authorities. This also includes the planning of drilling operations and facilities,” explains Dr Boris Dombrowski, Deputy Head of Geo-Energy & Resources at DMT. “Our service portfolio as a general contractor covers all aspects and is constantly being expanded in a meaningful way through, for example, scientific collaborations such as that with the GFZ in Potsdam,” adds Prof. Dr Bodo Lehmann, Head of Geo-Energy & Resources at DMT. “We look forward to engaging with clients, interested parties and the press at GeoTHERM.”
Dr Boris Dombrowski and Prof. Dr Bodo Lehmann, along with other DMT experts from the fields of site investigation, seismological monitoring, data modelling and plant design, will be on site throughout GeoTHERM and available for discussions.
