Plant Design/EPCM

In plant engineering, EPC contracts have become increasingly prevalent due to their ease of administration. By selectively taking on new tasks within EPC projects, the contractor assumes full responsibility towards the client and undertakes to deliver a turnkey project. The advantages of the EPC contract can be summarised as follows:

  • The technical team on an EPC project ensures the quality of the work carried out and is specifically responsible for identifying and resolving any problems that arise.
  • The highest safety standards are established.
  • Financial risk is reduced by setting a fixed budget, which must be agreed upon and adhered to before the project begins.
  • The project’s implementation period is set at the outset, thereby minimising deviations during project execution.  
  • The main difference between an EPC contract and an EPCM contract is that the EPCM contract is a service contract rather than a construction contract in the strict sense.

Engineering
