Building & Plant Safety: bridging the gap between safety and operational efficiency

Almost all buildings contain different types of technical facilities and systems which have to be inspected at regular intervals. When it comes to the responsible management and operation of your facilities, DMT supports you in an advisory function with a view to technical safety and compliance with relevant standards.

Whatever your requirements, be it initial acceptance or repeat checks of technical equipment or the design of a general safety plan for the building, DMT guarantees solutions to fulfil the necessary safety requirements of your buildings. This includes, inter alia:

Our consultancy portfolio offers a range of services from individual studies and specific solutions to comprehensive holistic assistance:

  • Operator liability management
  • Examination of technical equipment to ensure compliance with relevant regulations
  • Assessment and determination of maintenance levels
  • Evaluation of installations prior to the takeover of buildings
  • Preparation or review of contract specifications for tendering procedures relating to technical equipment and installations
  • Supervision of building and installation work
  • Training
  • Hygiene certification (for example according to VDI)

Operator responsibility management: Minimizing liability risks

For the operation of plants and machines, a reliable and comprehensive operator obligation management (BPM) is important. In other words, a central, networked system for the holistic organization, control and development of a company in such a way that risks associated with operational processes are identified, minimized, acceptable residual risks are defined and taken responsibility for. In the ideal case, this means complying with all public law and contractual regulations and, if necessary, being able to prove this beyond doubt. This requires resources, either within the company itself or externally.

DMT covers all the specialist areas involved and advises customers through a team of professionals individually tailored to their requirements. From experts recognized under building law for all technical areas to experts for fire and explosion protection, health protection and emission protection to competent trainers who can also impart the necessary knowledge to the company's employees.

DMT supports operators in this area, from analysis and initial assessment through documentation, risk assessment and recommendations for action to the complete implementation of operator obligation management. We use tools and software for facility management, develop our own test equipment management tools as well as maintain and update legal and regulatory registers. Furthermore, DMT owns 19 accredited and recognized testing and expert bodies - e.g. Germany's largest air conditioning test stand in Essen and since May 2019 an inspection body for cooling plants with its own independent experts.

Fire Protection

A key focus of our consulting work is in the design of fire protection concepts for special constructions. Such buildings are for instance restaurants and public houses, shops, assembly rooms, schools, hospitals, garage complexes and industrial buildings. As the design of such buildings becomes ever more complex, so do the challenges involved in meeting legal safety requirements. This makes us all the more dedicated to providing comprehensible and effective solutions for your support.

More information on all of these and related services is available on our plant and product safety website.

Seminars

DMT offers an advanced training programme, either in our own seminar centre in Dortmund, Germany,  or on request as an in-house event directly in your company. Our seminars can be tailored both to the level of knowledge of the participants and to your requirements. The seminars and training courses offered by DMT are an up-to-date and practical supplement to our services in these areas:
