DMT catalyzes implementation of sustainable resources management under UNFC, in a UNECE-led coalition

DMT’s Michael Haschke was one of a number of international experts, who recently trained EIT RawMaterials and EIT InnoEnergy staff in the application of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) to raw materials projects, as requested by the European Commission. DMT explained UNFC Classification in Practice – Data Gaps, Harmonization Issues and Challenges.

The aim of the training session at the beginning of February was to assist EIT project evaluators to classify project proposals mainly according to social & environmental impact and sustainability (Read more). 

The UNFC has been piloted in virtually all commodity nations worldwide and is now considered a mandatory classification for all European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA) projects. In its white paper, UNFC refers to CERA 4in1, a project initiated and led by DMT, as an integral part of the certification of sustainability in raw material extraction and processing.DMT explained UNFC Classification in Practice – Data Gaps, Harmonization Issues and Challenges.
