High-Precision Directional Surveying in Tunnelling, Mining and Shipbuilding

28. Januar 2021 (Webinar)

Time: 8:30 AM - 9:15 AM (CET)
Presenter: Volker Schäpe, Senior Geophysicist

Technology, principles and applications of the GYROMAT 5000, the world's most accurate precision surveying gyroscope.

In the webinar, we will introduce the gyroscope principle, the Gyromat-System and applications in tunnelling, mining and shipbuilding and show you how you can carry out your directional surveying projects with highest accuracy and efficiency.

GYROMAT 5000 is the essential product for high precision direction measurement without using the satellite-based GPS. Its accuracy of azimuth determination is 0.8/1000th gon, which corresponds to a deviation in arc of about 1.2 cm over a distance of one kilometer. The time needed for measuring a single direction is only about 6 to 9 minutes. Each GYROMAT 5000 is equipped with a high-end version of Leica total station.

One of the main applications is the high precision alignment in tunnelling with challenging requirements in accuracy such as tunnels with several breakthrough points, tunnels with pre-defined position of demounting construction for TBM, tunnels for high speed railway, tunnels for particle accelerometers. A further field of application for GYROMAT 5000 is to create and transfer reference lines, for example transferring a reference direction from the weather decks to lower decks of ships or in underground mining.
